Keeping things clean and tidy is important to me, but as we are all painfully aware, houses don’t clean themselves. 😠Someone has to get down and dirty. Someone has to take care of the house cleaning.
I mean, sure, the apartments in Japan aren’t known for being big or spacious, but things still need to be cleaned. And I’ve noticed that in the bigger cities, we can keep the windows and doors closed all the time, and a layer of dust will still appear quite quickly! I have always wondered why…😩
Well, nowadays there are expensive, vacuuming and mopping floor robots that we can buy that will automatically run around the apartment and keep things nice and clean, but even they are not going to wipe the kitchen counter for us, or place the remote controller back in its place if we leave it on the sofa.
There may be AI robots that will be able to take care of all those things for us in the future, but for now at least, nothing beats an actual human!
So yup, we either need to do it ourselves, or get help – housekeeping professionals!
Who uses housekeeping services
Busy people, tired people, lazy people, people who prefer spending their time doing stuff other than cleaning, and the list goes on.
I think this is actually pretty interesting, as I feel like how we feel about these house cleaning services, or maid services, or whatever you prefer to call them, depends on where we grew up, and whether the people around us use these services or not.
There are some countries where employing helpers is seen as a normal part of life, especially if a couple where both partners work has kids, or if there is an elderly person that requires round the clock care – not necessarily medical care, just someone to help them get around, bathe and feed them. And there are some countries where this is not common at all, Japan being one of them.
Here, many women become stay at home moms for a while, and some end up taking on that role full-time. The elderly also either go into nursing homes, go to Care Centres during the day, or have family members that take care of them at home.
And of course, it is a small luxury, not a necessity, and not all of us will need these services, but it’s always good to know your options, I believe.
How long does house cleaning take
Well, this depends on what plan you choose, but it is generally between 1-3 hours a visit.
What does weekly house cleaning cost
On average, anywhere between ï¿¥1,500-ï¿¥10,000 for one hour.
The difference is quite big because it really depends on the agency and the plan you choose.
The list below has a few agencies with information in English and there are others as well, so you can try searching the internet if you need more options.
Disclaimer: I have not used their services before so please do the necessary checks if you choose to contact them.
Have you used any of these services? How did you find them?
